It gives individuals the space to manage personal matters, attend funerals and process difficult events without the immediate pressure of work. For employers, understanding compassionate leave in the UK is part of responsible workforce management. Below is a clear guide explaining how compassionate leave works, what employees are entitled to and what employers should consider.   ## **What is compassionate leave?** Compassionate leave is time off work given to employees when they experience a serious personal event, most commonly the death of a close relative or dependant.
